Leonardtown Wildcats Hardship Scholarship Overview

At Leonardtown Wildcats Football and Cheer, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to participate in youth sports, regardless of their family’s financial situation. Our Hardship Scholarship Program was created to ensure that financial challenges do not prevent children from joining our teams, learning valuable life skills, and being part of a positive, team-focused environment.

Purpose of the Scholarship

The Leonardtown Wildcats Hardship Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to families who may not be able to afford registration fees due to unforeseen circumstances, job loss, medical emergencies, or other economic hardships. The scholarship helps cover participation costs for both our football and cheerleading programs.

What the Scholarship Covers

Scholarship awards may vary based on available funding and individual needs, and may include partial or full coverage of:

- Registration fees

- Uniform costs

- Equipment rentals

- Camp or clinic fees (if applicable)

Who Can Apply

Any parent or guardian of a prospective Leonardtown Wildcats participant may apply for a hardship scholarship. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are kept strictly confidential.

Requirements & Expectations

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must:

- Complete the official Hardship Scholarship Application

- Provide documentation of financial need

- Submit a brief explanation of the hardship

- Commit to volunteering time during the season (e.g., at games, fundraisers, or events)

Approved families are expected to support their child’s full participation in practices, games, and events, and to represent the Leonardtown Wildcats with pride and good sportsmanship.

How to Apply

Download and complete the Hardship Scholarship Application form. Submit the completed form and all required documents by the deadline indicated for the season. Applications should be submitted to the Wildcats Board or designated Scholarship Committee via email or in person.
